Install multiple patch levels next to each other on one machine

30-Dec-2024

You can use multiple patches with the respective baseline software on the same machine.
This example considers Tricore VX-toolset v6.3r1 as the baseline software along with its patches.

Contact our Support team to get the latest baseline software and patches. If you had access to the Support Center (now deprecated) in the past, you can also obtain the same from there.

Possible solution

To have a separate instance of each patch, follow the below steps.

For Patch 2:

1. Download the baseline software of v6.3r1.

2. Unzip the downloaded file.

3. Install the baseline software of v6.3r1 to a directory, for example, C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1.

4. After the installation is complete, make a copy of the baseline software, and paste it in the same location. The new copy of the baseline software would be named C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1-Copy.

5. Rename this directory  from C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1-Copy to C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1p2.

6. Download patch 2.

7. Unzip the patch 2 file.

8. Install patch 2 to the directory C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1p2.

For Patch 3:

5. Rename this directory  from C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1-Copy to C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1p3

6. Download patch 3.

7. Unzip the patch 3 file.

8. Install patch 3 to the directory C:\Program Files\TASKING\Tricore v6.3r1p3.

Follow the same procedure for additional patches.

If you want to have separate instances of each patch, each patch installation must have its own baseline software installed first.
