TLM: F104: protection error: No license key found for product code SW160800

22-Nov-2024

This article is valid when the toolset is working fine on another PC with the same installation and settings, but not on this one.

The license key or file cannot be found because its location is unknown to the licensing system.

Possible solution

Check the environment variables of your PC by using the System Environment Variables Setup within the System Controls of the Windows operating system or with the env command under Linux. There should be an entry like:

TSK_OPTIONS_FILE_SW160800v6_2r1=C:\Program Files (x86)\TASKING\TriCore v6.2r1\etc\licopt.txt

Please note that the above is just a sample entry for the TriCore VX-toolset v6.2r1. If a different version or revision of the toolset is used, adapt the numbers accordingly. The path entry needs to point to the location of the licopt.txt file of your installation. If this environment variable is not set, you can add it manually.

During a TASKING product installation under Windows, the installation program automatically creates this environment variable, unless the installation was done as a bulk installation. In that case you have to set the environment variable yourself. On Linux also you have to set the environment variable yourself.

Note that any open Windows Command Prompts are not automatically updated with the new environment variable after a product installation. You need to close the Command Prompt and open a new Command Prompt to have the newly created environment variable available.
